Dream a Little Dream of Me

So I, @wonderbound, have been going through the #crossingscon and #dying rirhait noise tags for Important Con Reasons, and I noticed an adorable little trend: cousins having CrossingsCon-related dreams! I know I’ve had such dreams myself, and now I’m curious just how common this phenomenon is.

So, how about it cousins? Anyone else have any fandom dreams they wanna share with the family?

Idk man, I once had a CrossingsCon dream that we were all herded into a giant banquet hall that was then locked and slowly flooded with water as Diane Duane cackled at us from various enormous screens a la Portal

This was back before the con was actually a thing that was for real happening, but STILL

Well, I think I can safely say that particular activity hasn’t made it onto the schedule yet. Unless DD has some surprises in store for her panel that even we don’t know about…

Perks Announcement

crossingscon:

To all of you out there who ordered hand-made plushies as a perk during our Indiegogo campaign: if you have allergies, please be very careful. Though we have done our best to minimize it, there may be cat hair on the plushies because they are being made in an environment shared with feline overlords.

Thanks!

FYI, so will any perks (other than journals) that are shipped after July, because I am moving in with dagger-paws and her two adorable kitties, and good luck keeping them out of boxes. If you are allergic to cats and have not yet received your perks, let me know and I will try to get them out ASAP.

It’s the day you’ve all been waiting for: Launch Day!

Click the link above to check out our shiny new fundraiser, watch our pitch video, peruse our perks, and then click that big pink button to fund everyone’s favourite Young Wizards convention!

Our campaign runs now till February 15th, 2015, so you have plenty of time to contribute, and our tiers start at $1 for those with tight budgets.

Seeing as the gift-giving season is upon us, may we also suggest asking your friends and family to help fund CrossingsCon as a Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or other holiday gift to you? It supports a great cause, plus, if they spend $5 or more you’ll even get some seriously cool stuff after the campaign ends!

Stay tuned here for more about the people behind our wonderful perks, plus updates and progress reports as the campaign goes on.

Also, if you have any questions about the campaign, the perks, or anything else related to the convention, or if you’d just like to squee at us about how excited you are (we wouldn’t blame you one bit if you did) drop us a line any time 🙂

In the meantime, go well cousins, and Happy Backing!

CrossingsCon Fundraiser

geekhyena:

crossingscon:

It’s been hinted at and talked around, but I don’t think we’ve made an actual post about it yet, so here it is: CrossingsCon is having a fundraiser this December and January.

We’re hoping to raise funds to support various convention expenses like badges, space rental, program books, advertising, and all kinds of other boring convention background things. Once we know we have a solid base to work off of, we can start taking panel and event submissions, working on a schedule, selling badges, and all the other exciting convention things!

More details will be forthcoming soon, including perks, stretch goals, tax deductibility of donations, and lots and lots of freaking out. In a good way. So don’t touch that dial!

Nervicited levels approaching maximum…..seriously cousins we have worked SO HARD ON THIS. THIS IS MY BABY.

Announcing Our First Stretch Goal!

crossingscon:

It’s official! Starting next year, Mark (of Mark Reads/Watches fame) will finally be tackling the Young Wizards series!

Not only that, he’s also kindly agreed to be one of our stretch goals for our upcoming fundraising campaign, meaning that if we raise enough money he will come to the con and do his thing LIVE on stage. If you don’t know what “his thing” is exactly, you can check his reviews out on MarkReads and MarkWatches, as well as finding him on tumblr, twitter, and youtube.

That’s all we have to say for now, but stay tuned in the coming months for more on our campaign and how you can help get Mark to CrossingsCon as well as just generally making this convention a reality.

Cousins, are you getting excited? We hope so, because honestly, we’ve got so much more coming down the pipeline and we can’t wait to share it with you!

CrossingsCon is June 24-26, 2016!

crossingscon:

We are happier than Mamvish in a tomato patch to announce that CrossingsCon will be at the Courtyard Newark Downtown on June 24-26, 2016!

The plan is to have panels, activities, gatherings, heated discussions, fic readings, hangouts, optional!cuddle piles, watch parties, and general group fun things at the hotel on the 24th and 25th. On the 26th, we’re taking the train into New York City for the So You Want To See Manhattan tour of Young Wizards-related sites in the city.

The room block for the Courtyard Newark Downtown will be open soon (we’ll post the link when it’s ready), with rooms available from Thursday through Monday. King rooms will be $124/night and double/double rooms will be $139/night. The hotel has shuttle service from Newark airport and free internet, and it sits right in the middle of downtown Newark, so there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

We’ll have hotel info updated on the website in just a little bit. In the meantime, stay tuned for further announcements, including how to buy your badge, how you can help CrossingsCon get off the ground, and some great surprises we haven’t even hinted at yet!
