I feel like with the media knowing full well that superdelegates’ votes can change based on the changing tide of elections–even Bill and Hillary Clinton changed their votes and voted for Obama at the convention in ‘08–it’s completely dishonest to count superdelegates in the current delegate counts. Clinton’s displayed total being boosted by over four hundred points that she doesn’t actually yet have just serves to sway voters in the middle to vote with the candidate who appears to have a mandate and Bernie supporters to feel disillusioned and stay home.

The light blue is pledged delegates–that is, delegates won in primaries. The dark blue is superdelegates, whose votes are not officially cast until the convention in July and can change up until the second they’re actually cast. In reality, Bernie Sanders is behind Hillary Clinton, but not by the ridiculous amount the media is (successfully) attempting to sell us, because if Bernie did pick up enough delegates in the later primaries to gain on or surpass Hillary, there’s a better-than-good chance some number of these superdelegates would switch sides before the convention.

It’s almost as ridiculous as if they started adding delegates from primaries that haven’t happened because of poll numbers in those states. The media reporting votes that haven’t been cast as though they have is extremely dishonest and is transparently in service of a goal, which is a Clinton victory.

This isn’t to say Bernie would definitely win if these deceptive tactics weren’t being used, but that these tactics are interfering with the fairness of the election.

I think adding in superdelegates – which not only can change but emphatically did change in 2008 when Clinton’s superdelegate lead rapidly evaporated in a storm of defections once Obama secured a majority of the pledged delegates – is actually considerably more ridiculous than modeling future primaries based on polling and demographic data, which was capable of accurately predicting the end result of the 2008 process pretty much as of the day after Super Tuesday.

just because a ship is fictional doesnt mean it cant hurt people

when abuse survivors such as myself are exposed to untagged abusive or toxic ships clogging a main tag it can upset or trigger them

our feelings and experiences are valid and just because the thing upsetting us is “fictional” it does not make our feelings any less real

please respect abuse survivors

hey this is just a request but if you feel safe to reblog this could you maybe consider doing so? i think this is kind of important and so many times people speak over abuse survivors on these issues and say that our feelings dont matter. i think it might be good for this to be spread around a little

arguing over “cultural appropriation” is so ridiculous. yeah let’s write a fucking paragraph on why wearing braids is oppressive!!!!!!!!!!! it seems like no one has a brain anymore, this social justice movement turned into bullshit.

this is what white people do.

we take complex issues that people are discussing, pervert their meaning so that they seem ridiculous, project those warped interpretations onto the original discussion, and then dismiss that discussion as ridiculous when it’s OUR interpretation that doesn’t make any sense!

and then we apply this absurd game of “if you care, you lose!” onto the whole thing and then mock other people for having feelings,

all the while sneering at them because we think we know what it means to truly suffer,

all the while thinking we know what life is *really* about and that *we’re* the one’s struggling,

all the while dismissing entire bodies of scientifically validated evidence and then viewing ourselves as the height of Objectivity and Reason.

I’m tired of the doom and gloom “bernie is losing, we’re failing him!” posts so listen up

ohmysmokeythebear:

A polical science lesson for y’all:

  • Bernie is not “falling behind” and we’re not “failing him”
  • In fact, posts like those are MORE likely to discourage voters and kill his momentum than encourage them
  • At this point in the race, it is NOT ABOUT THE DELEGATE COUNT, IT’S ABOUT MOMENTUM
  • who has a lot of momentum right now?? BERNIE. He has done FAR BETTER THAN EXPECTED while Hillary has done much WORSE than expected
  • like i said delegate counts don’t really matter much right now
  • BUT just so everyone knows, as of 2/24 Bernie and Hillary are TIED
  • They both have 51 delegates each
  • lots of news sites are saying hillary has a huge lead on bernie with delegates because they are assuming the superdelegates are with her but that’s all just speculation Not. Fact.
  • Super Tuesday (on March 1st) has a lot of southern states who will most likely favor Hillary but that’s ok because
  • ALL DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES AND CAUCUSES ARE PROPORTIONAL
  • YOUR VOTE ABSOLUTELY HAS IMPACT
  • even if hillary “wins” some states bernie will still get delegates and THAT’s what’s important!!!!
  • YES get out there and vote because it’s Super Important I Cannot Stress That Enough
  • but also know that it’s NOT doom and gloom, bernie ISN’T DOING BADLY AT ALL and we aren’t “failing him”

You bringing your own shopping bags saves the planet but slows them down.

Slow check out rates can cause retail workers to be fired.

If you want to bring your bags either help pack it or stand there and wait until the transaction is over for your cashier to pack it.

Also have your money ready. Digging for exact change also takes more time which contributes to slower check outs.

I’m sorry, I never have my $ ready, I use an app. Forgive me oh Great Cashier.

I know you’re trying to be funny but the shit is stressful when you are on the other side and you’ve got a supervisor telling you you need to get 90 percent speed when you average 87.

Lol 3 people fired last week. One was elderly, possibly her only source of income.

I’m not roasting, we’re cool. But the shit is not funny

The whole timing thing is so stupid. I worked at a job where every transaction had to be done in 4 minutes or less. Like how is that even realistic?

Also, don’t get mad at cashiers for asking you if you want to sign up for the store’s rewards program. We hate it too, but if we don’t ask we get in trouble for it, and we have a daily goal to meet so it’s really stressful for us.
If you want us to stop asking just say that you already have a rewards/credit card, but you don’t want to use it. If there’s a manager around they won’t give us shit for not trying enough to convince you, and we’ll leave you alone.

^^^^^^^
Managers hover and walk up and down the front end listening to make sure you get asked.

They will even ask for the cashier to make sure they reach the sales goal of the day.

Yup when I worked at GameStop we were required to ask if they wanted to sign up for PowerUp Rewards, and we were given a list (A HUGE LIST MIND YOU) of every upcoming game being released and were required to ask people if they wanted to pre-order any big name titles coming out.

And we had to get a certain amount of pre-orders on our record in order to keep our evaluations in the green.

And yeah, we were timed for checkouts. 4 mins>. And sometimes people would bring in DOZENS of games to trade in, and the POS might fuck up, or we might have to key in the SKU by hand if it’s an older game that is out of print (like literally every PS2 game now).

There’s so many factors that go into slowing down a cashier’s job, but it can be made easier if you are absolutely ready to checkout quickly and efficiently when you get to the register.

And don’t argue with the GameStop cashiers about the trade-in value of the game. It’s not us who set the prices, it’s the corporation. So if you only get $3 back for a game, even if it just came out and you returning it? It’s not us, it’s the company. I’ve had to talk down many an angry parent or dudebro because I’m being accused of stiffing them for their game or console’s value.

So be kind to your cashiers, please. The job is harrowing and frustrating as is, and they get paid peanuts as is. So the least you can do is be efficient and courteous during the checkout process.

Cant stress this enough. At my job, we have to ask for phone numbers in case the customer forgets the receipt and wants to return an item… If u dont wanna leave the number, just say no. So many people give me fake numbers and then the manager gets on our asses for “being lazy and not asking and putting in fake numbers”.
Also, please listen when we talk about the return policy. I told u its 30 days, then after that u get store credit.. I had so many angry moms yell at me for having to give them back store credit….just ugh

Wow. Nobody tells us this.

Thank you, I’ll be more considerate

I wish I could have posted this somewhere when I worked at Best Buy.

www.reddit.com/r/talesfromretail

My friend worked for GameStop and wow they are complete shit?

So NOT only do they require their cashiers/associates to make X amount of Rewards signups and Preorders but if you don’t make those numbers? they won’t Fire you persay. They just won’t give you hours. They slowly start reducing your hours until you PICK THE FUCK UP on your numbers. And if you don’t? Then they’ll fire you.

Worse yet? They won’t even hire you unless you know someone who works there. My friend who worked there that told me all this only got hired because her boyfriend worked there and he was good with the managers. She eventually got fired cause she didn’t make her numbers, after practically strangling her with less than 15 hours a week.

You know the saying “don’t kill the messenger”? Yeah. Be kind to your cashiers, please.

don’t get mad at people who don’t like constant positivity and really touchy/showy love. don’t guilt them into feeling bad for not displaying affection super openly and not wanting to hug everything that moves and shout cute things every two seconds at you. it’s really great that everyone encourages being nice and positive to others, but please remember that some people hate being coddled. it can be overwhelming, crowding, uncomfortable, pitying, and makes some people feel more shitty than anything else. some people want tough love. some people want their space. some people don’t want others to be incredibly positive and bubbly every minute of the day, and that’s perfectly okay, and it would be cool if we could stop portraying these people as cold hearted assholes because not everyone shows affection the same way and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. kay thanks.

Tbh this bugs me a bit because I’m one of those people that isn’t super bubbly and positive or openly affectionate and showy about my feelings and I definitely hate feeling coddled or pitied… but the wording of “some people don’t want other people to be incredibly positive and bubbly every minute of the day” bothers me cause I feel people who express themselves like that should be respected as much as I’d like my self-expression to be respected. If you are an optimist or an extremely affectionate person or someone who likes to be surrounded by positivity you are great, keep being you.

Democrats Plan To Introduce Sweeping LGBT Rights Bill In Congress This Week

“The LGBT rights bill would “provide explicit, consistent protections for sexual orientation and gender identity,” Cicilline’s letter said. He explained the bill would cover seven areas of law:
People who are credit worthy could not be refused loans, leases, or credit cards for being LGBT; public education institutions that receive federal money could not discriminate against LGBT students; otherwise qualified employees and job applicants could not be discriminated against in hiring, promotion, or firing; LGBT renters and home buyers could not be discriminated against in leasing or purchasing homes, securing home loans, or using brokerage services; people could not be held off of juries or denied federal funding for being LGBT; and finally, people could not be refused services in places of public accommodations, from hotels to stores, based on a persons sexual orientation or gender identity.”

WHOA
DO YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY NOT REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS
PAY ATTENTION
THIS COULD ARGUABLY BE WORTH MORE THAN THE MARRIAGE RULING

Right?  No more getting fired for being lgbt, for being trans, not being allowed a hotel room, or apartment, or schools being rude and not letting you pee/have properly gendered housing!

Time to REALLY bring the fight!

prepare for an over-analysis of fucking minions:

okay so apparently the creator of the Minions (who is named Pierre Coffin, holy shit, what an amazing name) said something along the lines of “All the Minions are boys/men because I just can’t see women acting that stupid” which a lot of people are taking as “haha yeah men are stupid!” but also this is a really boring trend I’ve seen in media (especially cartoons and sitcoms) since the dawn of time

characters that are silly, goofy, stupid, funny, loud, obnoxious, and ridiculous are always boys.

characters that are smart, mature, delicate, and sophisticated are almost always girls.

now to a lot of people this is probably a “yeah, so?” kind of thing, and some people might even see it as a good thing? they might see it as “yes i’m glad girls are being taught that boys are stupid!”

well, that’s not really the case. girls aren’t being taught boys are stupid, they’re being taught that boys GET to be stupid. boys GET to be loud and goofy because they’re boys, and that’s just how boys act.
it enforces a really harsh gender role that says that boys are naturally funny and silly and girls need to stay quiet.

and typically whenever these two character archetypes interact, the mature girl is always there to ruin the boy’s fun (Cosmo and Wanda, Billy and Mandy, Dib and Gaz, Goku and Chichi, Fred and Wilma, George and Jane, and Every Sitcom You’ve Ever Seen)

i just think it’s time for some girl characters that are allowed to be silly! that are allowed to run the show with their goofiness! to tell girls that it’s okay to not be mature and have fun! i’m just tired of the same gender roles being enforced that I’ve been noticing since I was a kid!

thank you for putting your finger on why that quote was bugging me

Every time people try to say that this is a hurtful stereotype against men, they’re forgetting how glorified the male “simpleton” characters often are. Yeah, we’re supposed to laugh at them, too, but people *love* the Homers and Patricks and Stimpys and Braks and Meatwads and Eds, and they’re supposed to.

Those characters are constantly portrayed as happier, more fun to be around, well-meaning, innocent and full of unexpected insight into life. They’re characters who always know how to have a good time in any situation and often come out on top over the un-fun “smart” people. Even when they’re villains, they’re the adorable not-really-evil villains.

And the worst part is, “dumb” female characters DO exist….they just aren’t written to be fun. They’re always “valley girls” and “vapid blondes” hanging out with the ~mean popular kids~ or the joke is that they’re “dumb” but at least they’re “hot” LOL“Dumb” male characters are protected, rewarded, written to be the ideal friend and innocent cinnamon roll, while “dumb” female characters are more often demonized, punished and presented as shallow, despicable trash.
