I mentioned this before, but I truly believe that maintaining credibility is important. I think spreading misinformation, exaggerations, and falsehoods does not help any cause. Sometimes it is very tempting to just hit that reblog button and share that terrible thing people are outraged about. And sometimes it feels nice to have stuff that reaffirms our position. But we need to be more careful and we need to stick to the truth.
I just want to say that I am not defending anyone here. I am just saying this stuff is not true or cannot be proven at this time.
The picture of the KKK marching in Ferguson was from Maryland in 2013. There is no evidence that they have marched in hoods during the protests. There is evidence that some members may have passed out leaflets and there is evidence that they helped raise money for Wilson.
While the police have done plenty of disgraceful things that we can prove during all of this, SWAT did not set a car on fire. The video doesn’t even show them setting anything on fire. They were shining a flashlight into the back of an El Camino. There is currently no reliable proof I can find that police have set fires.
There is only one source saying that Darren Wilson got paid for his television interview. “Got News” is a very sensationalist website and they do not seem trustworthy at all. Their story was the equivalent of gossip. “An unnamed source from NBC” said there was a bidding war. However, ABC news told multiple sources on record that they “do not pay for interviews. Period.” Darren Wilson did have several online fundraisers that raised a lot of money for him, but he most likely was not paid for the interview.
The only evidence that Darren Wilson had ties to the KKK was generated by Anonymous. They claim they cannot release any details because their source would be in great danger. I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but that is so far from reliable that I wouldn’t feel comfortable stating it as fact.
Wal-mart never donated to Darren Wilson. Marissa Mayer did not donate. She is not affiliated with any known Darren Wilson supporters. Neither is Tumblr.
Tumblr staff never cleared the Ferguson tag. They have removed posts with personal information because it is against their terms of service. I agree it is troubling that they removed personal info of the KKK very quickly and seem to be super slow on removing other problematic content, but I don’t think they intended to censor anything. You cannot post people’s credit card info and expect it to stay up. You can read more about what they have done in this Daily Dot article.
Also, please be extra careful about doxxing posts. There have been several people who have created fake tweets and hacked accounts to make someone look like they are a giant racist. This was done as a revenge tactic by ex-boyfriends and whatnot. Revealing personal information can literally put people in danger. Please be very very very sure that you have the right person and that they did what you are accusing them of.

When people complain about paying/inheriting the mistakes of their ancestors they fail to recognize an important part of it all. They feel they shouldn’t be accountable for the actions of their ancestors but believe they should be heir to their privileges. They are given inheritance, education, networking, and privilege from their ancestors. They don’t want to pay for the seeds their ancestors sew but feel entitled to the harvest.
George Zimmerman friend tells court he now thinks Trayvon Martin was targeted for his race
One of George Zimmerman’s most outspoken supporters has apparently changed his story.
Frank Taaffe testified Wednesday before a grand jury that Zimmerman may have called him and made racially charged comments in a phone call shortly after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February 2012.
He told the grand jury that he received a call from an unknown number two years ago from a man who made racist comments about Martin.
At the time, he thought it was a prank call and disregarded the comments, but now he suspects the call may have come from his neighbor and friend, Zimmerman.
A federal grand jury is hearing evidence in the case to decide whether Zimmerman – who was acquitted of murder charges in the case – will face federal charges for violating the unarmed teen’s civil rights.
Taaffe defended Zimmerman on national TV shortly after the fatal shooting, saying his friend was not a racist.
He said he has received death threats for his defense of Zimmerman.
Taaffe did not testify during Zimmerman’s previous trial.
But he decided to tell the FBI about the call earlier this year after both of his sons died recently, which allowed him to identify more strongly with Martin’s family.
Taaffe told investigators that he now believes Zimmerman targeted the teen due to his race.
“In my heart of hearts, I do believe that,” Taaffe said.
Lemme get this straight. An outspoken racist speaks out against his gun-toting, racist ass “former” friend 2 years later after feeling remorseful due to the death his own two sons this year? What part of the game is this? Either way karma always comes back.
Spread this all over the internet
both his sons died damn what kinda karma is that

Thank you Michael Grant for understanding
Guys can we get this to 1500?
this man summed up everything i’ve been thinking for years
I used to go to a school where the principal purposely made sure we were assigned more homework than normal so that we would be “learning” instead of “on the streets acting like hooligans”. And they wonder why that entire city is known for their drug addicted rich kids.

Problems in the social justice movement on Tumblr that we should work on:
•Not checking sources enough •Antisemitism •Being unwelcoming to people just becoming aware of all this stuff •not compromising •Seeing all issues as black and white (some are but not all) •Asexual erasure. •being unable to take criticism. •protecting toxic people in the community. •Not signing petitions that are being reblogged. •Becoming defensive when called out •People talking on issues they know nothing about. •Using tumblr as the only source for information. •Only focussing on issues that are popular. •Jumping to conclusions •Leaving out details that don’t help your argument.
Things that are not problems (wide scale at least) in the Tumblr social justice community:
•New or “made up” identities, pronouns or words. •Self diagnosing •Being offended by bigoted jokes •Misandry, reverse racism, heterophobia, etc. •trigger warnings •otherkin •14 year olds who aren’t cishet and dyadic. •complaining •Infringing on others freedom of speech. •fighting hate with hate •faking oppression •microaggression •being offended by small things •being unokay with slurs •having two people’s beliefs contradicting eachother’s.
Judge Drops Involuntary Manslaughter Charge Against Cop In Aiyana Stanley-Jones Shooting
Wayne County Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge against the Detroit police officer accused in the 2010 fatal shooting of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones, reports the Detroit Free Press.
As previously reported by NewsOne, Officer Joseph Weekley failed to follow his training when he stormed a house looking for a murder suspect with his finger on the trigger and shot Aiyana who was asleep on the couch, according to prosecutors.
All sides acknowledge that Aiyana Stanley-Jones’ death was not intentional. But prosecutors say Officer Joseph Weekley’s actions were a crime because he handled his submachine gun in a reckless manner.
“You have to use ordinary care in the exercise of your duties,” prosecutor Rob Moran said. “He didn’t follow ordinary care. … If he didn’t pull the trigger, Aiyana would be alive.”
Here’s the opportunity to prove that black girls lives matter as much as black boys lives.
Where is the national movement against this judge who dropped the charges against the cop who killed seven-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones as she lay on a couch in her home? Where is the demand from the people that the cop be locked up?
A cop who was frontin’ for the cameras of the reality series that was being filmed at the time, who was all gassed up on that “Look at me! I’m a cop on TV” shit and wound up killing our baby girl.
They charged him with some bullshit-ass, slap-on-the-wrist “involuntary manslaughter” and not even that shit could stick.
Baby girl is dead.
And there’s not a whisper or a tear.
I don’t believe it when people say they love black girls.
I have zero evidence of that assertion.

Apparently, in an attempt to paint Michael Brown as anything less than innocent, people have been spreading an image of an armed 17-year-old Joda Cain around the web and claiming that it’s Michael Brown.
Joda Cain is accused of murder in my home state of Oregon, and has literally jack shit to do with the Michael Brown murder in Ferguson, Missouri. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE. Anyone using the above image as “proof” that Michael Brown “deserved” to be shot should be called out for defamation, and promptly thrown down a spiral staircase.
The bottom photo is the real Michael Brown. He was called a “gentle giant” by friends and family. He was unarmed and innocent, and he was murdered by a police officer after being shot more than five times at close range. Witnesses, including a friend who was with him at the time of the shooting, all agree that he was doing nothing deserving of such violent actions from the officer who gunned him down.
A reminder, since I’ve seen the image circling again.
They don’t even look the same wtf lmao
you know whites think all niggers look the same!
Do thinks like ferguson actually happen in Canada?
I’ve seen a lot of people either ask why Canadians should be talking about police brutality and racism when “it doesn’t happen here” or try to talk like Canada is so above this shit so here are a few examples
The Saskatoon Freezing Deaths or “Starlight Tours” where native people have been picked up by police, dropped outside of the city and abandoned, often resulting in a person freezing to death, have been documented from 1976 – 2003 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened a lot more often and has just gone unreported. Neil Stonechild, a Cree teenager, was found frozen to death in a field in 1990 and had last been seen cuffed in a police cruiser. Rodney Naistus and Lawrence Wegner, both native men, were found frozen to death in the same place in 2000, and the same place where Darrel Night, another native man, was left by police, although he survived and the cops were put in prison for 8 months. Two Worlds Colliding is a film about him.
John Joseph (J. J.) Harper, from the Wasagamack Indian Band in Manitoba, was killed by a cop in Winnipeg in 1988 who insisted that the gun went off accidentally, and was later exonerated.
Robert Dziekanski, a polish man immigrating to live with his mother in BC, was tasered to death in the Vancouver Airport by three cops in 2007. Eyewitnesses, including another traveller that took a video of the entire incident (which later went viral), led to the realization that the police had lied about the circumstances surrounding his death.
