That doctor saved the whole population of Nigeria. Every single one of us owe her. Every one. Nigeria is the most populous black nation on earth. Lagos is one of the most populous cities on earth. What the Nigerian government did needs to be applauded and what Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh as well as the nurse who ended up losing her life and her unborn child needs to be applauded. We did not EVER need WHO or any foreign nation to help us. The Federal Republic of Nigeria curbed Ebola on her own. Full stop. The Ministry of health in Lagos and Fashola did an outstanding job. I know that because every single Lagosian i spoke to told me how quick measures were made, from not resuming school till October to checking temperature even before entering a bank. The Nigerian Government did not….did NOT play. We did not send fear mongering news through media to increase fear instead there were important information sent out to her citizens. I do not EVER want to read that any foreign entity helped my government in curbing Ebola. We did it on our own and we did it great.

Things I learnt today: During WW1, MI5 used Girl Guides to send secret messages. They used Girl Guides because they quickly found that Boy Scouts couldn’t be trusted and were’t efficient enough.

At the start of the war Boy Scouts were also used. But it quickly became clear that Girl Guides were more efficient because they were less boisterous and talkative.

the boy scouts were too gossipy, so they used girl guides as spies instead this is probably the best day of my life

can we please take a moment to just appreciate this anime that just came out???

it’s about four middle school girls who are members of the “hero” club – they go around and help people wherever help is needed. in the first episode you find out that they were actually all selected because of the high aptitude they show, and they are needed to help fight off bad guys to save their world. oh my!

yes. it’s a magical girl anime.
yes. it’s a magical girl anime with a girl in a wheelchair.
yes. it’s a magical girl anime with a girl in a wheelchair WHO TRANSFORMS and DOES NOT MAGICALLY GAIN THE USE OF HER LEGS and STILL COMPLETELY KICKS ASS.
the second episode is devoted pretty much entirely to her character overcoming the mental block of her perceived “inability to fight” because of her disability. and it’s great. she kicks so much butt.

the first episode has repeated instances of world-wide (for the girls their world is mostly school-related, but still) accessibility.

it’s not a perfect (i kind of wtf’ed at her transformation sequence tbh), but it looks promising so far as that sort of thing goes.

anyway. it’s call yuki yuna wa yusha de aru, or yuki yuna is a hero. look it up, if you’re into magical girl shows.

working on gifing some stuff, too~

/prays for lack of gross fan service, adds to my watch list/

The sun isn’t bright just because I say it is. It just is. It was bright before I even knew the word for bright. I didn’t decide what it is, I acknowledged what it is.

You aren’t worth something just because I say you are. You just are. You were worth something before I even said anything. I didn’t decide that you are, I acknowledged that you are.

This is what I mean when I say “You are worth it.”

This is great.

I have no words.

Mumbai Madness | A Mickey Mouse Cartoon | Disney Shorts

I am LOVING how cultural these toons can get. And I like how they don’t always use subtitles, instead relying on tone of voice and context around them so we can get the gist of the conversation. I absolutely loved this toon, from the music, to the jokes, and the rewarding ending. PLEASE watch this!

They even threw in a Bollywood gag in there! This cartoon’s a gem. 😀

i volunteer a lego piece as the new symbol for autism. theyre not a piece missing from something, theyre just incredibly great and you can build a lot of things with them– in fact, the more lego pieces you have, the better. unlike a puzzle piece, you dont need to “solve” legos. they come in thousands of different shapes and colors. and if you step on one, you will regret it. also legos are cool.
