the media’s ability to paint white terrorists as mentally ill is not only an exercise of racism but it also stigmatizes mental illness because apparently mentally ill people like to go on racist killing sprees

It’s so normalized, they teach it to us from birth. Some people live their entire lives never seeing an issue with the images above.

I am so disgusted. So utterly disgusted.
Just an important sidenote: Zhouzhou has down’s syndrome and is considered a huge icon for disabled Chinese people. So not only is this racist but extremely ableist.

Officer Michael Brelo was one of 13 officers who shot at Timothy Russell and his passenger, Malissa Williams, during a chase through the Cleveland area on Nov. 29, 2012. Police officers fired 137 rounds at the car, prosecutors have said, including 49 by Officer Brelo.
Officer Brelo climbed onto the car’s hood and fired at least 15 rounds from close range, including the fatal shots.
Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell were unarmed.
The DOJ has announced that they will review the Brelo case.

YOUNG UNARMED BLACK MAN SHOT AND PARALYZED IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD BY FAKE COP FOR TALKING TO WHITE GIRL IN HIS CAR
On February 4, sitting in his own car in his own neighborhood, talking to a female passenger, Monroe Bird was shot in the neck by a security guard, Ricky Stone, a 52-year-old white man. The bullet pierced the C3 vertebrae in his neck. Standing 6 feet, 8 inches, Bird, a gifted athlete, is now unable to move his arms or legs and relies on a ventilator to breathe.
Heres what you need to know:
- The security guard who shot Bird possessed marijuana at the time of the shooting. He told the Tulsa police that he hadn’t smoked it in a few weeks, and they didn’t even give him a citation. This is the definition of white privilege. Mind you, Tulsa was quick to test Eric Harris for drugs after they killed him and then released the results widely—even though he never acted violently toward officers.
- The security guard went to the tired, age-old excuse and claimed that he saw Bird reach into his glove compartment. According to the police report, no weapons were found in or near the car, and no items that even seemed to belong in the glove compartment were found out or about in the car.
- The security guard claimed he thought Monroe and his female passenger were having sex in the car and that he only approached them because of this. She’s white. Bird is black. Both denied doing anything of the sort.
The security guard has claimed that Bird, who has no criminal record, attempted to run him over and basically kill him there on the spot.
Both the female passenger and Bird denied the guard’s account and stated that they were driving away when Stone began recklessly firing his gun into the car.
- The security guard who shot Bird worked for Benjy D. Smith, who owns Smith & Son Security Company. This important to know because Smith is a reserve deputy for the same Tulsa Sheriff’s Office that is currently under national scrutiny for its unethical practices with Reserve Deputy Bob Bates, who shot and killed Eric Harris earlier this year.
- The insurance company is denying him coverage because they claim “it was his own fault that he got shot.”
PLEASE HELP HIM!!
you can either Donate (doesnt have to be alot it can be as small as $5) or Call the healthcare group and demand they give coverage with the number listed above.
This really hurt my heart.
I just cannot with the world anymore. I avoid the news sometimes cause it is so hurtful. But I also need to be woke.
MENTALLY ILL WOMAN TASED TO DEATH WHILE SHACKELED, BEATEN, AND HANDCUFFED
Natasha Mckenna, a mentally ill woman who died after a stun gun was used on her at the Fairfax County jail in February, was restrained with handcuffs behind her back, leg shackles and a mask when a sheriff’s deputy tasered her four times, incident reports obtained by The Washington Post show.
Six members of the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, dressed in white full-body biohazard suits and gas masks, arrived and placed a wildly struggling 130-pound McKenna into full restraints, their reports state. But when McKenna wouldn’t bend her knees so she could be placed into a wheeled restraint chair, a lieutenant delivered four 50,000-volt shocks from the Taser, enabling the other deputies to strap her into the chair.
Minutes later, she stopped breathing. Days later, she died.
The truth is, though, that police have been covering up the real details on Natasha’s death for months. And, even after all of this, police are not quite clear on why Natasha McKenna was even jailed in the first place. On the day she was arrested, she had actually called the police herself to report being assaulted and appeared to be struggling mightily with mental illness before she bounced around between hospitals and jails for days.
Nothing has happened to the officers yet.

- Half of Cambodian, Hmong, and Lao Americans drop out of high school.
- Police can go in to a Cambodian house without warrant and assault the entire family.
- Southeast Asians are racially profiled by the police.
- Filipina domestic workers often suffer abuse in silence or face deportation.
- API trans people face higher rates of poverty.
- When Asian bi-national LGBTQ couple faces disproportional effects of DOMA.
- A third of Korean Americans lack health insurance.
- When Asian Americans can be killed just for being Asians, even by the police.
All these things and people still use the model minority myth to silence Asian Americans by saying “we have it good”.
so i think i mentioned how my entire junior class got to sit in our auditorium and listen to ruby bridges talk about racism for two hours yesterday, but i didn’t talk about one of the most powerful moments in the presentation?
so we got to the end—like, the last twenty minutes—and she asked for questions. and we had a few standard questions (”how do you feel about people taking their education for granted?” “what would you say to the people who stood outside and protested you going to school if you met them again?”) but there was this kid waiting in the question line fidgeting nervously. and everybody could see it?? when he finally got up to ask his question, he asked her about her opinion on the events on ferguson.
and she mentioned her sons again, who she talked about earlier in the presentation. and then she told us about her son who was murdered. and she talked about the mothers who had their children taken away and how if you took a life unjustly and forsake your role as a keeper of the peace, you should be punished. and then she talked about how everybody chooses a side in this thing; good and evil.
and then she said that racism today is scarier than it was to her when she was growing up.
and the entire junior class was silent.
for those of you who don’t know, Ruby Bridges was the first black american child (one of the first???) to go to an all white school in the south, meaning all those photos you’ve seen of little black kids being harassed by a violent mob full of white adults – she grew up with that. and despite growing up in that environment she still thinks racism today is scarier than when she was growing up. idk but that comment got to me.
to everyone who has said that racism is gone or isnt as bad as it used to be “back then” – here’s someone who grew up “back then” saying that not only is racism is still alive today, but it’s even scarier than it was when she was growing up. go and read that comment again and think about it
For those who don’t know, the famous Norman Rockwell painting of the little Black girl being escorted by four US Marshals? That’s Ms. Bridges.
She was one of the first six Black children chosen to integrate New Orleans schools. Two of those chose to stay at their original schools after all. The other three went to a different school. Ruby was alone. Six years old, and all alone, escorted to and from school by US Marshals assigned to her personally by President Eisenhower.
White children pulled out of school when she was enrolled. White teachers refused to teach her. Only one teacher could be found who was willing to teach her, and that woman taught a class of one for an entire year. She received daily death threats, including from one woman who waited for her every single day in order to threaten to poison her. She could eat only food prepared at home that her Marshals had kept watch over. Her father lost his job. Her grandparents, who were sharecroppers, were turned off their land.
And she says racism is more frightening today.
Every 28 Hours (4/19/15): A week ago, 27-year old Freddie Gray was arrested for an undetermined (and probably imagined) offense by the Baltimore police. After putting him into the back of a van, they beat him to the point of damaging 3 vertebrae in his back and damaging his voice box, amongst other injuries. Today, Freddie succumbed to his severe injuries and passed away. Baltimore police beat a man to death– where is his name on the nightly news? Where is the outrage for his murder?!
This is genocide. My people are dying. At least seven other Black men were killed this week. Rest in power, to all our fallen ones. We fight for you now too. #staywoke #farfromover
