My friend needs some help. Crysta F lives in Texas. Two years ago, when we were both 10th graders, her boyfriend got her pregnant and she was forced to carry the baby. This is accepted protocol by every agency. You are not obligated pull over until you can do so safely. This includes personal safety. Understand your rights, brothers and sisters. HAZARD LIGHTS ARE NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IT IS NOT ACCEPTED PROTOCOL BY EVERY AGENCY. DO NOT JUST CONTINUE DRIVING WITH YOUR HAZARD LIGHTS IN CASE THE COP MIGHT THINK IT’S A LOW-SPEED CHASE.
I know that sounds dumb, but hear me out. My mother is a dispatcher for the local police station. I asked her about how to pull over for a cop and even brought up the use of hazard lights, and she told me that it is not always accepted. This is what she told me you can do in order to feel safe when pulling over:
Call the police. No, really. Call and tell the dispatcher where you are and that there is a cop behind you demanding you pull over. The dispatcher can and will stay on the line with you while they look up the area you’re in to see if it’s one of their station’s cops. Then, once the cop comes to your window, you can crack it open (it only has to be an inch!) while still on the phone with the dispatcher. This is definitely, 100% accepted protocol.
The dispatcher will verify that it is their own, real cop, and they will gladly stay on the line with you throughout your interaction with the officer. And God forbid this ever happens to any of you, but if something were to happen to you during this time, you’ve already contacted 911 and given your location to the dispatcher.
Please keep this in mind if you are ever requested to pull over and do not feel safe. The dispatcher will understand. Do not, however, continue to drive, because there might be the off-chance an officer will think you’re flat-out refusing to pull over (a well-lit, populated area might be a ways away).

What does the NGO fraud buster app do?
1. Enables sex trafficking survivors to report anonymously (and free of charge) the outcomes of their requests for help from
anti-trafficking NGO’s (NGO = Non-Government Organization, a
non-profit/charity) claiming to provide victims’ services, material aid,
and long-term support to poor sex trafficking survivors. It will serve
as a ‘report card’ of sorts for the public, and thus, the organizations
that really are doing the work in providing the help that survivors need
will be whitelisted.
2. Catalogues the outcomes of
survivors’ help requests, which are represented in hundreds of data
points, and indexes them by the name of each NGO the survivors contacted
in the referral pipeline, and the type of help or services for
survivors the NGO’s claim to provide.
3. It provides reports on each reported NGO by sector, name,
funding sources, services provided, whether there was any advocate
follow-up with the survivors requesting help, and whether or not the NGO
is “faith-based.”
Why is this app important?
It builds trust with survivors of extreme abuse
and shows that their lives really do matter. This app makes them active
in their own healing process, and helps improve the entire community
dedicated to ending human trafficking by empowering survivors to report
an offense or evidence of fraud that will be investigated by trained
professionals committed to this cause. Secondly, it highlights
the honest organizations that do great work who should not be forced to
compete with frauds for very limited anti-trafficking funding.
50 of the most prominent anti-trafficking NGO’s in the US (some of
which are operating in other countries too) share approximately $686
million between them—placing anti-trafficking NGO’s as a group at 184th
on the UN’s rankings of nations, right after Samoa.
This monetary figure is a very conservative estimate, and translates
to $343,000 per sex trafficking survivor that each NGO is getting to
supposedly help them. Yet, the majority of sex trafficking survivors are not getting helped with what they need to rebuild their lives.
Recently, several disturbing incidents were shared on social media by “rescued” victims seeking help entailing cases where “faith-based” safe
houses and transition center staff were sexually assaulting them and /
or forcing them to work for free making jewelry, clothing, and other
items that the NGO’s then sold for a profit to the public, while
marketing to the public that buying these products directly financially
supported the workers—the “rescued” sex trafficking survivors—and
provided them with job skills training and opportunity for economic
self-sufficiencey. It did not. One survivor blogging anonymously stated, “Women
are commonly raped in transition shelters because the abuser felt
justified…in his eyes, she was nothing but a prostitute. They threaten
that if the victim speaks up, Child Protective Services will be called.
When the threat comes from the staff, who will the courts believe—the
staff, or the client they refer to as a prostitute?”

The great Miyazaki is somewhat famous for his sweeping dismissals, but I believe there’s political substance behind his curt condemnations of mainstream culture.
Miyazaki abhors a certain strain of Japanese nationalism which has seen something of a resurgence in recent years and crept into the chaotic free-for-all of anime and manga storytelling. He’s been a vocal critic of prime minister Shinzō Abe’s politics, including the denial of Japanese war crimes and sex slavery, the ceremonial honouring of Japanese war criminals, and the proposal to amend the Constitution to re-introduce the possibility of war.
As it stands, the Constitution of Japan includes the remarkable Article 9 which outlaws war — a measure which was forcefully imposed by the US after dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Needless to say, there’s something twisted about achieving a ban on war by means of an atomic holocaust; but Miyazaki, a child of World War II and its horrors, supports the ban.
Miyazaki is equally critical of the US. When “Spirited Away” won an Oscar in 2003, he refused to travel to Hollywood to accept the award, later explaining “I didn’t want to visit a country that was bombing Iraq”.
So I don’t think Miyazaki is simply being an eccentric moody artist when he says things like “Anime was a mistake, it’s nothing but trash”. I think he has specific opinions and critiques of craft and storytelling, message and values, politics and culture, as conveyed by art.
that’s actually why i despise it when western anime fans reblog the quote “anime was a mistake”. not only is it just irritating, but they have no idea what it actually entails in their western frame of view.
anime is largely bad. yeah. a lot of it provides for largely a older male audience and includes a lot of fetishism and blatant imperialist content.
how many times have any of you seen scenes in anime where the background changes to something similar to sun rays to show motivation? how many of you know that it’s a direct reference to the rising sun flag. the flag in which the “asian holocaust” was created under. how many times have you actually seen the flag outright in anime?
how many of you still praise ouran highschool host club when they literally portrayed feminists as nazis, which is bad enough but considering japan’s past?
how many of you watch attack on titan, which is pure imperialist propaganda?
how many of you, yeah our followers as well, watch hetalia? the whole premise of the show being nazi and imperialist apologism and when the creator literally said before that he thinks that the rest of asia wants to/should be under imperial japanese rule again.
how many of you watch anime that has a shallow chinese or korean character(s) or a sexy korean/chinese girl in a bastardized, revealing rendition of their traditional dress?
yeah. most of anime is shit. it’s total trash for what a huge portion of the industry has stood for, producing widespread scenes of rape, pedophilia, fetishism. it continues to promote either borderline to outright nationalistic attitudes, and still dehumanizes chinese and korean characters.
“ but does it matter?” you ask. it matters when there are still marches in japan happening this decade that celebrate hitler’s birthday. that there are still marches this decade that promote the drowning of chinese and koreans in the bays and killing us.
what happened to japan as a nation during the meiji reformation and after the war with the occupation was inhumane. there’s not excuse for it. but imperialism is still alive and well in japan.
and huge portions of the anime industry is built off it.

All above reasons why anime as a whole makes me really uncomfortable and why I avoid it/don’t go out of my way to watch it.
This is also why it was in SUCH godawful taste when Zen-Pencils did that whole story arc in which Miyazaki pilots a giant anime mecha to destroy a “hate monster” made out of people who criticize art.
Miyazaki is worshiped like a god by geeks and yet he believes exactly what they don’t want to hear: that the shit they love and the industry producing it are overflowing with toxic behavior and dehumanizing attitudes.
This is what it means to be a “rescued” sex worker, this is the result of the so called activism of liberal and radical feminism. Sex workers get two options presented to them by the state, either go to jail and be raped by corrupt cops or work under slavery in the garment industry where they are subject to abuse and sexual harassment. Nobody wants to end trafficking more than sex workers, but they are the last to be considered in these multi million dollar anti-trafficking operations.

In case isn’t obvious how exactly it’s a rape joke: Sam ‘walking differently/funny’ is supposed to imply sex (getting fucked so hard you can’t walk straight) so they’re discussing sex in terms of torture. That’s rape. We all saw Sam in season 7, he didn’t have a dopey smile on his face due to getting a good fuck from Satan, he was traumatized and he was suffering ptsd and he was terrified of his hallucinations of Lucifer and that hallucination very heavily implied Lucifer raped Sam in hell. The fact that Mark (and Seb) made a joke about it, as if it’s somehow funny? As if it’s something to make light of? Is so fucking disgusting. Rape isn’t funny, it’s a very serious issue, even when it comes to fictional characters.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, when called out on it on twitter he did 2 things. 1: he blocked the people calling him out. 2: he defended himself by bringing up ‘perspective’ that had literally nothing to do with this event at all:

a) Whether it was the intention or not, it was still a rape joke. A white person could call a black person the n word with no intention of being mean or derogatory and it would still be racist. Intention doesn’t mean shit.

Saving a woman from rape doesn’t make you the next Captain America and it sure as hell doesn’t mean you get to use it to deflect from real issues. Following on from that, she’s not ‘safer’. She’s not. She may not be a rape victim but being saved once doesn’t suddenly mean she’s immune to ever being raped again. And since, like I said, he’s happily contributing to rape culture AND defending his behaviour, there’s always a chance that she could get attacked again.
