A variation on fic-a-day in May. Challenge yourself to write for three prompts a week based on these:
Week One: heart, cruel, infinite
Week Two: domestic, planetary, spark
Week Three: opal, righteous, feather
Week Four: apple, hearth, queen
Starting Monday October 3, you can write as little or as much as you would like. Write for all three or just one or teo. Hopefully these inspire you to write something new. It can be a variation on the words or use the word and its definition literally. Tag your works on tumblr as #fictober2016. If you post on ao3, use the tag Fictober 2016.
All fandoms welcome, obviously. Spread the word and enjoy.
you wanna make really nice lookin fur?? don’t know how all those furry artists do it???? allow me to educate you then
1: Lay down your base color! This is important and should be darker than the color you are aiming for.
2: Take that boss ass acrylic brush and set that thing as follows.
notice how we already are picking out our desired shade of lavender!
3: on the same layer as your base (if you are uncomfortable, make a duplicate so you don’t have to worry) and start making little strokes in the direction you want your fur to go. Put these strokes into rough rows and make sure you space them out enough for them to be told apart.
5: Keep going until you’re done! Want some cool dyed tips to your fur? Just choose a different color! Let’s start adding some cyan tips.
Just rinse and repeat until you’re satisfied! Don’t be afraid to play around with blending either, it can lead to some cool combos!
The maximum speed you can go and still gain credit towards hatching your eggs is 10.5 kmph.
The game does not measure your exact speed; it measures the distance you have travelled every minute. This means the maximum distance you can walk in a minute is 175meters.
The most efficient way to hatch your eggs is to walk in a straight line, the game “draws a line” from where you were to where you are now and measures that distance. So, obviously a person walking in a zigzag pattern will get less distance towards hatching their egg.
The distance displayed on the egg only updates every 4 minutes.
The game still counts your distance if you are still moving when you are catching a pokemon
Monument Valley honestly kept me from having a panic attack a few weeks ago.
I was on hold with my bank for roughly a half hour because someone had stolen my debit card number and had charged a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff to it. All I could think about while I was on hold was what if my rent check bounces, I can’t afford the late fee I’ll be slapped with and I’m already on bad terms with my super – and I felt that horrible grip around my chest squeezing down and my breathing getting faster.
Normally I can just drink a cold glass of water and sit in front of my ac (to remind myself that no, my throat is not actually closing up, and that yes, I can still successfully get air into my lungs with the help of a fan) but this time neither of those tricks did anything. Well actually that’s not true, they reminded me that I was alone in my apartment, and if couldn’t find a way to calm down, I wouldn’t necessarily be able to get help – which only scared the shit out of me even more.
So I sat in front of my AC and pulled up the brightest, happiest looking app I have on phone, which is Monument Valley, and within ten minutes of building pathways to guide the princess through the castle I was breathing normally. I found myself thinking, look at this bitch, you’re already solving this, this will be cleared up with your bank in the next half hour, and in case your check bounces, you’ll have documentation as to why to show your landlord. On good days, it’s sometimes honestly as simple as helping a tiny me walk through a beautiful castle while solving simple puzzles to remind myself:
I met a whole ton of you at CrossingsCon, and one of the big things that people said to us was that they wished there was a way to keep in touch with everyone after the con was over. I feel that – post-con depression is a sucky thing, and the only remedy is to keep in touch.
So, instead of feeling down about having a whole year to go until the next con, I created a Young Wizards Slack! (Slack is a chat platform that lets a group of people have their own set of channels and PMs. If you’ve played with HipChat or Discord, it’s like that.) A few people have already signed on and we’ve been hanging out, playing games, and talking about everything and nothing, and it’s wonderful.
If you want to sign up, just go to http://youngwizards-slackin.herokuapp.com/ and put in your email address. It’ll send you an email invite and you’ll be chatting with us in no time. Or you can lurk and only pipe up every once in a while – whatever floats your boat.
doooo ittttt 🙂 way more reliable than Skype and way more versatile.
I just learned that some websites use cookies to adjust prices. That is, if you visit a certain website a lot the price will increase.
You can tell if that’s the case by checking the same web page on a different browser if you have a different number of stored cookies for that site. I checked something on Chegg and it was $14.95 on Chrome, $19.95 on Firefox, and $16.95 on Safari.
The fix? Clear your cookies for that website.
Reblog, save a wallet.
Plane tickets almost always do this!
PLANE TICKETS DO THIS ALL THE DAMN TIME
When you’re looking for plane tickets and waiting for prices to drop, ALWAYS clear your cookies beforehand and switch between browsers. A friend of mine was looking for a flight and getting prices that were the CHEAPEST at $800-1000, I sent her a link for a round trip that was like $495, and it read as $900 on her computer because she had been hounding the airline site.
alternatively: avoid all this headache by using incognito when shopping for plane tickets, text books, etc
