so another thing about “write your own” is that the supermarket is full of things like bread (bake your own!), tomato sauce (make your own on the stove!) and orange juice (juice your own!) — we live in a consumer culture where it’s considered acceptable to consume products of other people’s work and creativity, sometimes in exchange for money. When someone points out that the market is not adequately providing something for which there is a demand — say, gluten-free bread — a company will inevitably come in and start making it to cash in on that market.
“Write your own” is like saying to my spouse “oh, bake your own” just so xe can have shitty bread that doesn’t cause stomach cramps and acne.
Except, that’s not what happened. What happened is that Udi’s and other brands of gluten-free bread are getting easier and easier to find in stores, and restaurants are starting to have gluten-free alternatives to their wheat items like pasta, pizza crust, beer, and cookies.
It is BY speaking up that this kind of thing even happens. If people don’t complain about the lack of diversity in mainstream literature, and just “write their own” (which unless they’re very lucky won’t make enough of a splash to catch mass attention and cause major changes), if people don’t speak up, how is anything supposed to change?

I have these two neighbours and they’re married and they gotta be like in their late 30s and I’m making dinner and I look out the window and they’re running around outside in their pajamas and bare feet with water pistols soaking eachother and laughing so loud it made me realise I’m wasting so much time trying to make relationships perfect when all that’s really needed is someone who will laugh with me for the rest of my life
another another tags to type and post the tag that comes up

srsly stop. there are people out there i love, they’re lovely lovely people, but it drives me mental to see writers of pornography being told to stop glamorizing/eroticizing [subject of your choice]. pornography is not public health education materials. pornography is not an endorsement of an actual, real, harmful thing. it’s glamorized and eroticized by definition. there are kinds of pornography i cannot consume because i have too many Real Feelings about the subject being portrayed. so i don’t consume that kind of pornography. i produce pornography that i completely understand other people have Real Feelings about, and i respect that. but seriously, having erotic responses to things that are bad, wrong, dark, disturbing – wake up and smell the human condition. telling people it’s not suitable material for fantasy – gtfo. seriously.
I should be clear that I support this provided the porn writer/artist is up front about triggers and other potential issues for its readers. However, I think once someone is clear that their work is, for example, hardcore dark BDSM and may contain freaky stuff for people who are troubled by such things, or that it is not a good example of a healthy relationship (BDSM or otherwise), they should be able to go completely nuts within the confines of their own story, because it can definitely be annoying when writers and artists are attacked despite their warnings for creating stuff they and other people enjoy as fantasy.
If anyone has any triggers that they would like me to tag, please let me know!
You can do it anonymously if that makes you more comfortable, but I want to try and keep my blog as safe a space as possible for my followers.
Reblog if you would date a trans person
I’m being told no one would by a teacher. I’d like to prove her wrong
Your teacher sucks.
tell her/him to suck a cock! I’ll even marry one.
Forever wondering if I am contributing to a conversation by using my own experiences or being self centered and rude.

anti-femme arguments, ESPECIALLY anti-cosmetic arguments, are inherently misogynist and trans misogynist and if they’re a part of your feminism maybe you should think for a second about what it says about you that you assume every woman is able or willing (or “not strong enough” lmao) to give up makeup or heels. because it don’t say nothing flattering.
