Mountie takes woman home from jail to ‘pursue a personal relationship’

RCMP Const. Kevin Theriault took an intoxicated aboriginal woman he had arrested out of a cell and drove her to his northern Manitoba home to “pursue a personal relationship,” according to RCMP adjudication documents obtained by CBC News.

Fellow officers teased and goaded him by text message to see “how far he would go,” and another constable observed flirting between Theriault and the woman, saying he “jokingly made a comment about having a threesome” with her. The senior officer in the detachment first said “it wasn’t right” for Theriault to take the woman out of custody but finally said: “You arrested her, you can do whatever the f—k you want to do.”

The incident occurred on Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, near Thompson, Man., in 2011. A written decision was not delivered until 2014. The constable admitted to the allegations, got a reprimand and lost pay for seven days.

some people seem bothered by the magical boy anime because its suddenly about boys and not about girls and act like the magical girl genre is the 1 special place for girls and basicly say that the magical boy anime has taken that away from girls because it suddenly doesnt representate girls anymore and such ~ but rly i saw it like magical girl genre got so much aimed at guys that this is more like a increase of stuff aimed at girls not the opposite… their views feel so westernized

mako-tachi:

their views are westernized and they’re incredibly ignorant to what actual japanese feminsits think of magical girl shows. supposedly quite a few japanese feminists don’t even want magical girl shows because they don’t empower girls at all, they’re actually seen as making girls conform to their extremely strict gender expectations.

western feminists should just butt out of this topic. they have no place talking over japanese women (who boueibu is made for) when they don’t know shit about how anime is produced, or just about anything anime related really.

also, here is a post that is talking about the magical girl issue.

So many men have internalized the lie that they have uncontrollable sex drives, and no way to control their anger. They aren’t ashamed of their abusive behavior because they see it as a something natural to them and maybe even central to their masculinity. It’s scary as hell.

Why do people who make the claims of “MEN KEEP WOMEN OUT OF CERTAIN TYPES OF JOBS” not realize that saying shit like that completely takes agency away from women? It’s not like girls in school are idiots, if a girl doesn’t want to get into a STEM field, it’s probably because she doesn’t have an interest in STEM. What, is the suggestion to hammer in “NO, YOU MUST ENTER STEM BECAUSE OF YOUR GENDER, OR YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE PATRIARCHY”? C’mon now.

These points also sometimes make no sense in terms of what the employer would want.

There’s going to be the asshole who won’t hire a woman… I’ve met women who wouldn’t hire men… but that all goes back to the GamerGate thing. There are jerks. They exist. They’re in every group of people.

A normal every-day employer isn’t going to hire Dude McDumbfuck over Geniussa Von Smartlady because of weiner. That’s actively ensuring his business fails.

“There are jerks, they exist in every group of people” is something people exclusively say to silence legitimate concerns. It’s nothing but a veiled way of saying “your problems don’t matter so you should give up.”

And it NEVER takes away anyone’s agency to acknowledge that a system or subculture is working against them. That’s another disingenuous snake-oil argument; “if you think sexism AFFECTS women, that’s like saying women are vulnerable! NOW U ARE THE SEXESTS HARDY HAR HAR!!!”

Except it doesn’t work that way. When the culture is biased against your success, it doesn’t always matter if you’re strong or tough or powerful. Institutionalized discrimination is larger than any one person, and it built so much of our modern society that even millions of people waking up to it and fighting it remains an uphill, desperate struggle.

Oh, but what do all these industry and academic professionals know, right? Not like the hands-on, real-life experience you get playing video games!

P.S. Another study was conducted just to double check if men are exceptionally prone to denying this when presented with evidence, and they are.

As I am sure any cat owner will be able to tell you, someone else putting you in a box is entirely different from getting into a box yourself.

This is the most brilliant, concise, cute, and disarming response to the “but laaaaaaaabels are baaaaaaad” argument that gets used against people trying to self-identify as something as a way of making sure their boundaries are understood and respected.

cuttlefishculler:

breaking it off with negative people is a really good thing to do. but it’s also really dificult and it can be painful, isolating, and socially disruptive to more than just thefriend group

so it’s Really Cool that we’re promoting the idea of cutting off negative influences but it’s Not So Cool that we’re implying everyone can do it and either live without a support network or magically conjure new, non-shitty friends from the aether
