it’s been reported by multiple folks on the scene of Antonio Martin’s shooting that police left him to die without getting medical assistance, he could have survived had they made the effort. so not only was he 18 and unarmed, even when they made the exaggerated move of taking him down for whatever reason and he was helpless on the ground no longer posing a threat to em (if there even was a threat) they left him to die.

Another black person, Antonio Martin, was killed just hours ago, just two miles outside of Ferguson by a white cop. What we know so far is he was unarmed, he was at a gas station, the cop stopped him for “matching the description” of a suspect and then shot him for refusing to lie down on the ground.

Note that suspect descriptions are usually along the lines of “we’re looking for a black male between 18 and 42.”

he had a gun. Every article out there says he was in possession of a gun. Even tweets defending Antonio talk about what kind of gun, and serial number, Antonio had. He was armed.

When I made this post it had literally just happened. He was still lying on the ground dead and the only sources I saw all said he was unarmed.

Those have since been edited, pretty honest mistake to make. I’ve been asleep since and woke up to a dozen “HOW CAN U GET IT THAT RONG U LIAR” posts.

Doesn’t change the fact that even other armed (white) shooters are routinely brought in alive.

This is for those who don’t understand what executive function is. Even I know what it is after reading this and I can relate to this so much, especially in organization, impulse, and self-monitoring!

It doesn’t mention autism, but I know autistic people tend to be poor at executive functioning.

This is a great illustration of how complex executive functioning really is. “Executive functioning” isn’t just one trait, it’s a whole series of things (some of which aren’t even included here!) Executive functioning is more than just stereotypical “forgot my homework” ADHD cliches; it affects everything from prioritizing the steps involved in running errands to the flow and structure of conversation. And most people have more deficits in some areas than in others, so no two people with EF problems will be exactly alike.

Such a great example of EFD.

destroy the idea that trans people need to pick new names close to their given names, but also don’t make fun of those who do pick names with similar sounds or letters. it’s a comfort thing for some.

Demolish the idea that trans people even have to change their given names if they don’t want to. If your pal John says that she’s a girl, then John is a girl name. Names do not have genders beyond the people who use them.

Fired Buffalo cop tells her side

Buffalo police officer Cariol Horne stopped another officer from choking a handcuffed man. She was then punched and fired.

Dec. 17 2014

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) – Former Buffalo Police officer Cariol Horne in a battle to get her pension. She was fired for trying to stop a fellow officer she says was abusing a suspect.

“November 1, 2006, there was a call of an officer in trouble at 707 Walden,” said Cariol Horne.

That officer was Gregory Kwiatkowski, who was responding to a domestic dispute inside that home between Neal Mack and his girlfriend.

When officer Horne went into the house she says Mack had already been placed under arrest.

“He was handcuffed in the front and he was sideways and being punched in the face by Gregory Kwiatkowski,” explained Horne.

Horne and about 10 other officers who arrived at the scene helped drag Mack out of the home.  But once outside Horne says Officer Kwiatkowski was out of control.

“Gregory Kwiatkowski turned Neal Mack around and started choking him. So then I’m like, ‘Greg! You’re choking him,’ because I thought whatever happened in the house he was still upset about so when he didn’t stop choking him I just grabbed his arm from around Neal Mack’s neck,” said Horne.

If that choke hold of a handcuffed suspect caught Horne off guard, it didn’t prepare her for what she says Kwiatkowski did next.

“He comes up and punches me in the face and I had to have my bridge replaced,” said Horne.

When Horne tried to defend herself other officers pulled her back and her shoulder was injured.

Following the incident, Horne was fired and charged with obstruction for “jumping on officer Kwiatkowski’s back and/or striking him with her hands.”

But officer Kiwatkowski’s own words seem to conflict with the charges. In a sworn statement he says, “she never got on top of me.”

Nonetheless, Horne lost every appeal and with her 19 year career over, she didn’t qualify for a pension.

Horne is the mother of five children and is now working as a truck driver to make ends meet.

“My daughter said, ‘Mommy, why did you go to work that day?’ She never said, ‘Why did you do what you did?’ or ‘I wish you wouldn’t have done it.’ She just said, ‘I wish you wouldn’t have gone to work that day.’ So I don’t regret it.”

Officer Kwiatkowski was forced to retire from the police department after he was suspended for choking another officer on the job, and in a separate incident, punching another officer when he was off the clock.

In May 2014, Kwiatowkski and two other officers were indicted on federal civil rights violations against black teen suspects.

Horne is continuing to fight for a pension.

The City of Buffalo Common Council sent her case to the New York State retirement system for review. A determination has not yet been made.

SIGNAL FUCKING BOOOST

The FIRST AND ONLY example of a good cop I’ve encountered via social media. And that cop is a woman. A Black woman. A punished Black woman.
